Kid Town USA in Clinton Township, Michigan, offers two different preschool programs for children: one for 3-year-olds and one for 4-year-olds. Both programs focus on learning and preparing the kids for kindergarten.
In an active learning environment, the classrooms are divided into distinct areas of play, each equipped with toys and materials to promote learning success. These areas include:
|• Dramatic Play
|• Art and Sensory
• Music and Movement
|• Science and Discovery
3-Year-Old Preschool Program
Our 3-year-old preschool program is play-based and designed to create a love of learning. In teaching through play, children begin to understand that learning is fun and gain the socialization skills needed prior to entering kindergarten.
Our program is designed to continue to develop your child's social and emotional needs by making friends and showing interests in playing with others, being able to ask for what he or she needs, and developing manners. We will focus on self-help skills, encouraging him or her to take care of his personal belongings, putting on his own coat, and staying potty trained.
Our structured learning program is designed to ensure your child can recognize his first name in print and attempt to spell it, correctly identify colors and shapes, know the alphabet, put together simple puzzles, understand directional concepts, complete simple patterns, count to 20, and recognize numbers 1 to 5 in print.
We will also help your child grasp a pencil and crayon correctly and begin to draw simple figures. Most importantly, we will begin developing your child's creativity through art, giving him or her the confidence to express himself and build his confidence.
Teachers will work with children in both small and large group settings. Children will still be provided with free time to learn and explore on their own.
Our 3-year-old preschool program follows the state-mandated ratio of 1 caregiver to 10 children.
4-Year Old Preschool Program
Our 4-year-old preschool program is a year of exploration and growth. We continue to build upon the skills they learned in our 3-year-old preschool program as we work toward the skills they will need for kindergarten.
Throughout the year, your child will recognize and write letters A to Z in both capital and lower case, begin to recognize the sound each letter makes, recognize and write numbers 1 to 12, count to 100, learn to spell his first and last names, know his telephone number and birthday, learn to cut neatly, and gradually increase his attention span. We continue to work on your child's socialization and active learning skills by showing him how to learn through play. Upon completion of this program, your child will participate in a graduation ceremony.
Our 4-year-old preschool program follows the state-mandated ratio of 1 caregiver to 12 children.
